The Dream Team are dipping their fingers into all things spooky, creepy, and scary, as we play along with the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween. The team will be taking turns to fill the quota of 31 days on the Dream It Up! blog,
and posting on their own blogs as well. Be sure to leave them lots of
love as this is truly a challenge for many of them! Here is today's post
from Pam Hornschu:
Going with a steampunk ghost idea here. I used the Dreamweaver Gears machine-embossed into the Core'dinations' Vintage Cardstock, with the embossing sanded lightly to reveal the design. The black panel features the Dreamweaver Damask Background, paste-embossed in Matte Black, sprinkled with Stampendous Aged Black Embossing Enamel, and heated until textured. The edges were torn, and with the help of a glue marker, sprinkles of Color Fragments were added on the edges. The focal piece has a dual frame...one a scalloped oval, and the other one of the Dreamweaver Nested Frames. The ghostly cameo was actually a mistake from a previous project. I had attempted to ink the Cameo stencil itself, and transfer the ink to a piece of acetate. This was sprinkled with black embossing powder and heated. However, the ink was splotchy, and the embossing powder clung in areas that I didn't want due to the fact that I hadn't wiped the surface with my usual anti-static medium...talcum powder. However, when I backed her with a piece of white tissue, the result was...haunting, and therefore fitting for the sentiment used from the Stampendous Tricky Words clear set. The brad fasteners shaped like screws added to the industrial feel, and the chevron striped ribbon from May Arts added a bit of a "Beetlejuice" feel to the card.
The Smeared and Smudged site is offering prizes each day of the month by a long list of sponsors...Dreamweaver being one of them, but we are also offering one stencil (our choice) to one lucky commenter on the Dream It Up! blog each day of the month! The cameo may have been a mistake but looks great as the focal feature on the card. Love all the techniques used to create that grungy background!
Very spooky cameo. Great card. Love the grey tones. Hugz
It's great when a mistake turns out to be something great...and I love the damask, will have to try adding embossing powder to my texture paste. Thanks for another inspiration piece x
Very ghostly!
I have to find some of those screw brads.
Always good to save those "mistakes." You found the perfect project for it.

That fab image is called serendipity (a happy accident) and is just brilliant! I adore how the damask embossing past has bubbled. What a fabulous card! xxD
I LOVE this! One of my favorites today--that "ghostly" cameo is completely convincing.
Love the use of the gears stencil. Nice ghost cameo, too!
Awesome idea to do a ghost effect! Love how this turned out. Love the stenciled design with the torn edges and stampendous fragments too! Really cool idea. :) Thanks for sharing.
