31 Days of Halloween with Smeared and Smudged-Day Twenty

The Dream Team are dipping their fingers into all things spooky, creepy, and scary, as we play along with the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween. The team will be taking turns to fill the quota of 31 days on the Dream It Up! blog, and posting on their own blogs as well. Be sure to leave them lots of love as this is truly a challenge for many of them! Here is today's post from Laura Drahozal:

Laura gets pretty creeped out by spiders, so when she stamped "something wicked this way comes" with that $1 stamp and white chalk ink, she really meant it!  She also used that ink and a Stencil Brush with the LJ 816 Spider Web Stencil to created the pattern on gray mulberry.  She then stitched over most of the web (yes, by hand, but it was not difficult because the pattern was already there).  This also secured the mulberry paper to the distressed Core'dinations card stock.  The LS 28 Spider Stencil was embossed with Glossy Black Embossing Paste.  It looks a little "furry" on the edges because the stitching raised the stencil off of the background a little.  The gem was added while the paste was still wet.  Here is a closer look at that evil spider:

The Smeared and Smudged site is offering prizes each day of the month by a long list of sponsors...Dreamweaver being one of them, but we are also offering one stencil (our choice) to one lucky commenter on the Dream It Up! blog each day of the month! So, leave your comment below before heading over the Smeared and Smudged blog to view all of the other creepiness!

Ooh, defiantly a creepy card. Not a spider fan myself either Laura. They are fantastic little creatures, at a distance LOL. It looks too real with that glossy paste. Hugz

The glossy black embossing paste sure makes the spider realistic, the gem is the finishing touch! I admire all the work that went into stitching the web.

That makes me shiver. The stitching looks fabulous. I actually was cleaning our yard a fer years back and met up with a black widow spider. It was a baby though. They are unusual this far south. We usually get the brown recluse. Equally creepy, but definately not as pretty.

I don't think I really even wanted a closer look at that creepy spider!!!! EEEEEK!!!! This card is way too realistic with that brilliant web stitched like that on mulberry paper and the jewel on the abdomen of that monster. (shudder...) I don't do crawlies! :o Fabulous work!!
