It has been such a busy month here at Dreamweaver. I just got back from doing a teaching tour on the west coast. Met so many nice customers and had such a great time. Fell in love with the Redwoods in California, the Oregon Coast and went almost all the way to Canada. I would love to do it again soon. My next teaching trip is mid July in Michigan. I will be teaching at My Craft room in Troy, Michigan, Stampeddler in Northville, Michigan and Altered Art Addicts in Jackson, Michigan. Starting on July 20-21 and 22 respectively. Contact your closest store for exact times.

I know it has been a busy month for everyone else as well...but I want to thank all of you have played along. This week Nathalie Fournier from Canada is our winner and will be receiving our stencil pack. Very creative Nathalie, love how each bird is a different color of glitter...just send me your snail mail address and we will send you the stencils (lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com)

There are just a few more days of our challenge, so don't forget to play along! And remember you can email me your creation (lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com) to play along and I will post it for you if you don't have a blog or if you do have a blog you can post to mr. linky below...

I am so excited about the post for today. It starts with a beautiful card that I received from my friend Elaine Benedict in North Carolina. I loved her card so much that I did a variation on it with Art Glitter. She paste-embossed the Art Nouveau stencil (LX7015) with Dreamweaver Metallic Silver Embossing Paste (DSP) and as soon as she removed the stencil she sprinkled the wet paste with a transparent glitter. The letter "B" stencil (LS-B) was then paste-embossed with the Dreamweaver Glossy Black Embossing Paste (DGKP). She simply yet elegantly put the card together with touches of pink embellishments...the bow, the mounting of cardstock behind the letter, and the one crystal. These little touches make the card sing.

The following three cards were done by CASEing her beautiful card.

I used Dreamweaver Metallic Gold Embossing Paste on these first two cards ....

and Metallic Silver Embossing Paste on this blue card:

The glitter I used on all three of these cards was by ART Glitter and is actually a transparent glitter called "Mystery" (306). What I did to accent the different colors of paste is to sprinkle the glitter onto the wet paste, then waited until it was "bone" dry and using my new paste spreader tool I scraped across the dry glitter. This scraping process was repeated more than once and removed enough of the transparent glitter so that the beauty of the metallic pastes were revealed. I challenge you to give this a try. ART Glitter has soooo many different transparent glitters that the possibilities are mind boggling.

These cards could be used for wedding invitations, or thankyous for wedding gifts using the initial of a new married name or Congrats cards or a gift card or or.... Or not wedding at all... Thank you for your inspiration Elaine!

JUNE WINNER #2 and We're Still Sparkling!

 AND

ARE TEAMING UP THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JUNE TO BRING YOU AN AMAZING CREATIVE COLLABORATION MIXING DREAMWEAVER STENCILS AND ART GLITTER. COME ALONG FOR THE RIDE...WE PROMISE IT WILL BE A SPARKLING ONE!

One winner will be chosen each week. (US and Canada only, please).

Once again, we are posting a fabulous creation by Elaine Benedict, previous sales rep and teacher extraordinaire! I love how her creative mind works!

For this card, she used the new Stylized Dahlia stencil, which she paper-pieced with Japanese Washi paper. Not satisfied with just this, she then pasted* the Translucent Embossing Paste over the surface of the design, and added transparent crystal glitter. This technique makes every detail stand out and sparkle in a gorgeous way! Layering the panels, adding a sheer ribbon, and a few dots of Liquid Pearls finishes off a truly inspiring design.

Try out this technique yourself, or any of the other ways to mix your Dreamweaver Stencils' designs and Art Glitter*, and play along. Remember, there are still three more prize packages to win this month! Ooops, nope. I forgot, one of these we are giving away in today's post. The winner for the second week of the challenge is...

Jill D.

Congrats to Jill on her beautiful wedding card, which featured the Long Stem Iris, using the Double Glitter technique:

Jill, please contact lynell@dreameaverstencils.com with your address! We hope to see more of your creations in the months to come!

Therefore, we are down to TWO more prize packages as shown above. You know you HAVE to win one for yourself! So, get busy and play along. Tell the kids they can go swimming after you've finished covering the house in glitter. Tell the dog you'll go for a walk after you've photographed your creation and linked it HERE! Tell your hubby...well, he might be the one paying for your new-found stencil and glitter obsession, so...just smile, and tell him dinner will be a bit late, and may have extra fiber in it...that sparkles. Yep. It could work.

More Challenge Players!

ARE TEAMING UP THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JUNE TO BRING YOU AN AMAZING CREATIVE COLLABORATION MIXING DREAMWEAVER STENCILS AND ART GLITTER. COME ALONG FOR THE RIDE...WE PROMISE IT WILL BE A SPARKLING ONE!

We have three new submissions for this month's challenge. This first is by Nathalie Fournier, and features the Crows stencil. Her beautiful colors of glitter on these birds, creates a happy contrast to the almost spooky background:

This second one is another creation by Rose Svendsen. Though the background is glittered in a beautiful ocean color, the Nautilus was paste-embossed. Rose tells me that she accidentally touched the paste before it was dry. The result is a sculptured and more real appearance. Sometimes "mistakes" can be even more perfect!

This third submission is from Joy Hauck, who is a regular player with us. Her card is perfect for this month's challenge...wedding themed and double-glitter! So beautiful. Love how she kept the focus on the Dangling Heart panel by adding the frame from the Thinking of You stencil, and simply dry embossed the Celebrate sentiment at the bottom.

First Week Challenge Winner and Double Glitter Painting

Art Glitter provides the perfect product to "paint with glitter" as demonstrated by Elaine Benedict using the Daisy Background stencil. The process follows the same Double Glitter technique. The difference is that you will use the Picasso stencil to mask off areas as you work, and apply the various colors of glitter with the tip of a diagonally cut drinking straw.**

Are you ready to find out who won the first week's prize for the glitter challenge month? A big congrats goes out to Rose Svendsen for her gorgeous "Skates" card:

Rose, please email Lynell with your address so your fantastic prize package can be on its way!

**After posting, Elaine informed me (Pam) that (as Louise commented below) she had stenciled the color with Brilliance inks, cleaned off the stencil, replaced it again, and pasted Translucent Paste, and sprinkled with translucent crystal glitter. You could achieve the same look by "painting with glitter" as described above, and paste over the top with Translucent Paste. Either way, you have a gorgeous creation, with great sparkle! Thanks to Louise and Elaine for setting me straight!

Monthly Challenge ...."ART" Glitter and/or Weddings

This month we are joining Art Glitter's design team and the challenges will be "lots of glitter and/or weddings!" Click HERE to navigate to their BLOG and you will have double fun looking at stencils done in a variety of ways. KC from the Art Glitter's design team has posted already on their BLOG doing a tutorial with a technique called Double Glitter. She has linked to a YouTube segment that I did for a TV show called Scrapbook Soup and in it I did the card you see on the right. Click HERE to see the video if you want to see this technique done step-by-step.

I used AG's microfine transparent glitter called HOT LIPS. The pink cardstock in the background was paste-embossed with Glossy Black Embossing Paste (DGKP) onto the raindrops stencil (LJ905). The "showers" sentiment stencil (LG738) was paste-embossed with Glossy White Embossing Paste (DGWP) and then sprinkled with the HOT LIPS glitter.  The handle of the umbrella stencil (LG737) and the dots stencil (LJ804) were stenciled with black pigment ink. The background glitter was a transparent crystal glitter.

We are doing our giveaway a bit differently this month. We will gift four challenge winners (one for each week) with the following gift packet of stencils plus some fabulous glitter from Art Glitter as well, so start creating and link to mr. linky below:

May Challenge Winners

This has been a month of ups and downs with so many different things happening with schedules etc. that I am surprised at how many of you joined us for the Black and White with a POP! and/or graduation challenge. Thank you to each and everyone who played along with us. As usual I had a difficult time "judging" so this time around I turned the job over to experienced designer, Pam Hornschu! We have two winners and each will receive the two stencils, LG713/Amsterdam Flourish and LS90/Celebrate. Best interpretation of the challenge goes to Anne Temple for her hat design and best usage of Dreamweaver Stencils goes to Jill for the plum blossom with a POP of yellow.

Occasionally I am really stymied by all the wonderful creations and this time around was one of those moments, so I would like to send each of the following an honorable mention stencil. So if your name appears here, please email me (lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com) your snail mail address, and we will send yours to you in the mail:

Barbara M
Rose S
Jennifer Dove
Joy Hauck
Cin
Nathalie F
Miriam Prantner

Also, please join us next month as we begin a month of glitter. We will be playing along with Art Institute Glitter's Design team and will link to their blogs for extra inspiration. I'll be blogging soon to tell you what you can win...and mostly we want you to join us in the challenge, so this month our winners will be picked randomly. The main gist of the challenge is glitter so get ready to get down and get dirty...I mean get sparkling!
