Happy Hallowthanksmas October Challenge

If you are here for the Smeared and Smudged- 31 days of Halloween scroll down to the next post. Plus for those of you ghoulish commenters on the Dream it UP site remember we are posting the list of daily winners on Thursdays...check for your name, and email me your snail mail so you can receive the stencil of our choosing. lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com

Can you tell that sometimes Dream Team's "Fearless Leader", Pam Hornschu, has a hard time deciding on monthly challenges? Since the team will be taking turns all month with the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween, and we are doing a Christmas collaboration with Stampendous and Core'dinations the 13th - 17th, the confusion should be understandable. Therefore...happy HallowThanksMas! As usual, we'd love for you to play along with the challenge and link your creations to the Inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up! blog. Just in case you are wondering...NO, YOU DO NOT NEED TO POST SOMETHING WITH ALL THREE HOLIDAYS ON IT! However, you get bonus points for actually using Dreamweaver stencils and product on your creations! And bonus points might actually earn you an extra stencil as our monthly winner...just sayin'! (Really, what will happen is a separate drawing for anyone using a stencil in their creation....this will reward the people using stencils, after all it's only fair to tip the odds in favor of stencil usage since we are a stencil company. We will also have a general random drawing for greeting card enthusiasts so if you've created using  a stencil it will automatically be entered in that drawing as well.)

Because the team is also joining Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween we will be having a daily Halloween posting here on the blog and each day a comment winner will win a stencil of our choosing....AND there are  some other really great prizes as well, check out Smeared and Smudged for all the details. All of the participants are listed on our sidebar. And yep...you will find one of our team posting each day right here on Dreamweaver's blog.

This week I am in the "thanks" phase of Happy Hallowthanksmas. Because of my crazy schedule this month I am thankful for the many hands and hearts that have been helping me with the blog. Thanks of course to Pam who has such a great head for design and is keeping all the details straight, thanks to a great team who never seem to miss a beat, thanks to Alison for her never wavering in the smeared and smudged 31 days who kept saying we can do it! Thanks to Louise Healy who graciously said "of course" to my request to CASE one of her card designs for an upcoming class. The list of course goes on and on...this week I am especially thankful for Elaine Benedict who is my former sales rep and now that she is retired an honorary design team member who still takes every opportunity to teach even though she has discovered she loves to play golf in her retirement years. She sends to me (in the mail, no less) her lovely cards to showcase on my blog and today I am showing two techniques she has accomplished with essentially the same materials. This oak leaf stencil design (LL3043) was first paste-embossed with the glossy black embossing paste (DGKP). When the stencil was removed she then sprinkled Metallic F/X powders onto the wet paste. I am guessing the colors were ivy garden, forestry, eye of the tiger, moonstone...but Elaine, if you are listening, make a comment as to which colors you might be using with this one. If you are reading this go to the link and have a look as to what you think they might be. The "HAPPY FALL" letters were done with our new dual alphabet die. (DD005).

This second card she did is slightly different. But the same materials were used. This time she paste-embossed the maple leaf stencil (LL3044) and after removing the paste she let the leaf design dry. Then she repositioned the stencil and daubed the Stamp and Stick glue (GSP) the leaf using the Tsukineko jumbo dauber (KD02)
Next she stenciled on top of the moist glue with the Metallic F/X using the colors goldfinch, ivy garden and kimono red. It is a bit more challenging to stencil on a glossy paste, but notice that she left some of the black showing in places to give it more contrast. Beautiful cards Elaine thanks for sharing.

Don't forget that next week we are hopping with Stampendous and Core'dinations for some great prizes....starting Monday the 13th!

Now take some time to visit the team members posting this week....and of course take a minute to enjoy the cards coming in for the challenge. This month is busy but we are delighted you are taking the time to visit and join in the fun. And don't forget to scroll down to the Smeared and Smudged post by Laura to see if your comments won a prize last wee

Unfamiliar with metallic F/X's so can't help you there. Can admire the wow effect though. Love the way you used the alphabet. Still thinking about that one. As they say Christmas IS coming LOL Hugz

I used one of your gorgeous stencils (LJ 849) in my entry #30. My first time trying embossing paste and glitter with a stencil. I'm very happy how this turned out and now I want to do more! I would love to win another stencil! Thank you for the chance! Wishing you a wonderful day! Your leaf card is absolutely beautiful!
