31 Days of Halloween with Smeared and Smudged-Day One

 
The Dream Team are dipping their fingers into all things spooky, creepy, and scary, as we play along with the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween. The team will be taking turns to fill the quota of 31 days on the Dream It Up! blog, and posting on their own blogs as well. Be sure to leave them lots of love as this is truly a challenge for many of them! Here is today's post from Alison (who frankly, got us all into this craziness!).

Alison used the Jack O Lanterns stencil for the focus of her card. She applied glossy black embossing paste to the stencil once it was taped down, and added glitter while the paste was still wet.

Alison had just the right paper (from Martha Stewart) for her background, with a cool chevron stripe paper scrap from DCWV, She decided that she needed a sentiment, and pulled one from her Inkadinkado collection. It reads, "Smile you trickster." Perfect for these Jacks!

The carsdtock that has the sentiment was just plain white, and frankly, too boring for Alison, so she decided to use one of our newest stencils, the Chevron Background (LX 7026). This is one of our largest stencils, so she really used only a tiny piece around her sentiment, but it was just what the doctor ordered.

Welcome to the annual Dreamweaver and Woodware Christmas in August extravaganza week! Monday through Saturday we will be knocking your Christmas stockings off with fun and inspirational ideas for the upcoming holidays. All that you need to do is hop back and forth across the "pond" on each day, oohing and aaahhhing as you go, and leaving us plenty of holiday love. Today's post features a card by one of our honorary designers, Marj Marion. She created a gorgeous background for the Open Bird/Dove stencil, using Dreamweaver Color Solutions Alcohol Inks in a polished stone technique on glossy cardstock in shades of blues and silver. The dove was paste-embossed in Metallic Silver, with Metallic F/X powders in coordinating colors blown across the wet surface. Tiny Adhesive Pearls were added for dimension, and punched sprigs complete the look. A very elegant card, and perfect to cover most faiths during the holiday season!

This card is a definite WOW! Newly Certified Dreamweaver Teacher, Sandy Magill, created this for her final assignment in the certification course. It reminds me of a sampler, in that it shares a small amount of several techniques and products. Featuring the Ornate Christmas Tree stencil, and created in layers...some with Pearlescent Embossing Paste, Metallic F/X and using the Molten Magic technique; others with Regular Embossing Paste and sprinkled with Crystal Glitter, or ink stenciled over the pasted surface, and a gorgeous gold glittered star on top! Sandy used wonderful technique and skill to create this card, and we are so proud to have her as one of our new Certified Dreamweaver Teachers! Dreamweaver and Woodware Day Six:

All of this week, the Dream Team and the Woodware UK teams have been celebrating the release of the new holiday designs from Dreamweaver Stencils. Of course, no celebration is complete without prizes...and there are some fabulous ones for those commenting on both sides of the "pond". 

Each team will be providing the opportunity to win four prize packages of stencil designs, perfect for the holidays. Just leave your comments each day on each players' post as well as the Dream It Up! and Woodware UK blogs, and the Dreamweaver and Woodware Facebook pages. Two random commentors  will be chosen from the batch of weekday posts, one each from the DW and WW Facebook pages, and from the big hop on Saturday...from each side of the pond!* That's a total of eight prize packages up for grabs! Here's our final creation for this week:

Don't you just love these mittens (LJ923) created by Louise Healy? She dry embossed them first with an embossing machine and while the stencil was still in position she added a touch of red pigment ink to the mittens by stenciling them with a large stencil brush (NHB1/2") and the tie was stenciled an even darker red. Next the new Christmas Borders stencil (LJ922) was layered on top of the mitten stencil and paste embossed with the original Dreamweaver Embossing Paste (DEP... which has a maroon label). Because the mittens stencil is still in place to act as a shield, it is important to hold both of these stencils flat against the surface while paste-embossing with the LM2010 paste spreader. This fun border gives these mittens the wonderful look of a soft Scandinavian wool sweater.  After repositioning the clean border stencil onto the now dry image she daubed the design with Stamp and Stick Glue Pad (GSP) and then stenciled the moist image with several soft colors of the Metallic F/X line using a small 1/4" stencil brush (GHB). The sentiment was paste-embossed with the fun Merry Winter stencil (LM252) and the Dreamweaver Glossy Red Embossing Paste (DGRP). Once the stencil was taken off and while the sentiment was still wet it was sprinkled with white flocking along the upper edge. For a final finishing touch the outer edges of the card were stenciled with a hint of the red pigment ink and a 3/4" stencil brush (NHB3/4"). Love this card Louise! Thanks!
