Summertime, Sparklers, and S'more with Dreamweaver and Stampendous, Day Three!

It's fun in the sun time again with another collaboration between Stampendous and Dreamweaver Stencils! We'll be playing together all of this week, with a fabulous hop on Friday, August 2nd, featuring a slew of amazing talent from both teams, and of course...prizes!!!

Two prize packages will be given away for the comments left on posts Monday-Thursday, July 29th - August 1st, and one prize will be given away for comments left on the hop day, Friday, August 2nd. Winners will be selected randomly and announced Thursday, August 8th. (Note: USA addresses only, please, due to shipping costs.) Here's what you could win:

Stampendous Surfer and Sandcastle Kiddos • Dreamweaver Hot Air Balloon, Ice Cream Cones, Summer, Mosaic Swirls, Bird Words, and Sandcastle stencils

Here's what I created...OK...not exactly Summertime Fun, but if I don't get a headstart on Autumn/Indian Summer I could be in trouble presenting new stencils to the world. We will be heading to Art'n Soul in Olympia WA for a Zentangle demonstration by Wayne on the 10th of August. Then off to the UK in September for two retailer's workshops starting September 8th. Next in October we will be going to Asheville NC for a stencil retreat (hoping to see some Fall colors while there), we would love to prep stencilers for the next step of doing Teacher's Certification with Dreamweaver products. More about this very soon...stay in tune on Facebook and here for more information!

The re-released acorn and oak leaves is now on a larger stencil size ...(LG754). I paste-embossed it with the Copper Embossing Paste (DCP) and while it was wet I sprinkled it with the Stampendous Encrusted Jewel Bronze Kit (EJK07) and some of the metallic F/X, (Goldfinch, Kimono Red and Nouveau Orange). These colors came together for a beautiful Indian Summer/Autumn look. The Fall season will be upon us before we know it. The sentiment, Merci (LS1011), was paste-embossed with Gold Embossing Paste (DGP). I am really loving working with the Stampendous "Frantage" powders...they are just gorgeous. A special thank you to the Stampendous team this week, who are working in a very big way to make Dreamweaver look GREAT! Thank you Laura Weed and Pam Hornschu for working behind the scenes to make this all happen.

Now, hop on over to the next in line. Don't forget to leave some love for a chance to win, and just 'cuz it's nice!

Summertime, Sparklers, and S'more with Dreamweaver and Stampendous, Day Two!

Here's what I created:

This card is actually a collaboration with Pam Hornschu who is the fearless leader of our Dream Team. Pam worked "in house" for Stampendous for six years and knows all the ins and outs of all the wonderful things they sell. While I enjoy getting involved in the design process of a hop like this, I just don't have time to do it all...so she encouraged me to use a couple of finished pieces that she had stamped and colored with Copic markers and the two pears you see here titled "pear blossom" (459005) is one of the things she shared with me. (Thank you Pam for making my life easier.) I placed our pear stencil (LL563) on top of her colored pair of pears and traced it with a pencil, then cut it out. The turquoise pear (LL563) in the background was stenciled with teal pigment ink onto turquoise cardstock. The edges of the traced and cut piece were edged with pigment ink by sliding it on the edge of the pigment ink pad and sprinkled with teal embossing powder from the Encrusted Jewel Teal Kit (EJK06), then heated and mounted onto the turquoise stenciled pear card. The window was created by tracing the 6-paned window grid stencil (LJ812) with a pencil onto brown card stock...then cut the windows out with a craft knife and back the window with acetate.  The background was "Frantaged" with the  Encrusted Jewel Teal Kit (EJK06) and the window was placed on top and mounted.

Now, hop on over to the next in line. Don't forget to leave some love for a chance to win, and just 'cuz it's nice!

Sparklers, S'mores and Summertime Fun with Stampendous and Dreamweaver

Stampendous Stamp, Dreamweaver Cow LM191 and May Arts ribbon

My creation today is with this fun Stampendous cow stamp..."Hay There"! Stamped on cardstock and colored with color pencils. In the background is Dreamweaver's cow stencil (LM191) paste-embossed several times on black cardstock with Dreamweaver Glossy White Embossing Paste (DGWP). While the paste was still wet I sprinkled it with the Stampendous Crystal Embossing Powder (EP050R) and then when it was almost dry I heated it with a heat gun and it bubbled the paste just a bit for a sparkling good time.

Now, hop on over to the next in line. Don't forget to leave some love for a chance to win, and just 'cuz it's nice!

Thursday's Dream Schemes: Summertime, Sparklers and S'mores/Challenge

It was hotter than hot yesterday and I was out watering the garden when a beautiful dragonfly hovered near the swimming pool. They are so amazing and several that I've seen lately are just gigantic. But they always inspire me to create, so here it is...Faux Ceramic Tile. Don't forget to join us this month for all things summertime, also follow the design team list below to meet Wendy Price our guest designer this month and also see what the team has been creating. We are off at CHA as you read this... so you may be seeing new stencil designs on the blog this week.

This has been one of my favorite techniques for some time now and is actually quite simple as well. Just follow these steps:

1. Dry emboss a piece of 80# card stock through the embossing machine using the diamond grid stencil (LJ882).

2. Reposition the tile stencil onto the embossed area of the card with removable tape. Next, position the decorative corner flourish (LJ919) on top of the tile stencil....also using removable tape.

3. Stencil this decorative stencil with small stencil brushes and permanent blue ink and repeat the process with the dragonfly stencil (LM193), too. Once you have finished stenciling, if the ink is not quite dry, remove the grid stencil and heat the stenciled images with a heat gun for a couple of minutes to set the ink.

4. Clean off the grid stencil so it doesn't have any ink on it. This is important in the next step so that your background doesn't get color smeared on it.

5. Reposition the grid stencil onto the embossed tile and use the jumbo dauber to systematically apply clear Watermark ink all over the stenciled tile.

6. Remove the tile stencil immediately and sprinkle the surface with  clear embossing powder. Shake off the excess and, if you have any powder sprinkles around the edges, brush them off with a soft stencil brush. If you have any powder in the grout lines remove it with the  small end of an embossing tool.

7. Heat the powder until it melts using a heat gun. I like to start by heating under the paper and then as it warms move to the top of the paper. This helps keep the powder from blowing off.

There are many different thicknesses of clear embossing powder that can be used. However, I have discovered that beginners do best with regular clear powder and, as their skill level increases they often choose a thicker powder.

I wonder what the Dream Team is up to this week with their summer challenge...let's go see!

Thursday's Dream Schemes:Summertime Challenge

May Arts ribbon on bridal stencil (LJ924) card
HOT HOT HOT....this month we are touting all that is summertime. Thank you everyone who has linked up and joined the challenge. We will be announcing our random winner the first day of August. AND...a special thanks to Wendy Price for being our guest designer this month. I don't know about ya'll, but I have been loving the anticipation of seeing what she has to share...such great talent!

I am posting this sizzling bridal shower card because the background says 'summertime wedding' to me. My sister was married in the summertime (many moons ago) and these were her wedding colors...hot pink and peach! Well, this might be a bit hotter than her wedding colors, but this summer has been hotter too. Whew!! Hope you are all surviving this heat, we are heading to Las Vegas this week for CHA the summer show and our travel day will be 107 degrees. (We are praying for cooler weather to set up in.)

This zentangle inspired art card was rendered completely by Wayne this time around. All I did was make it into a card after he completed the artwork. Here are the steps according to him:

1. Wet a 140# hot press watercolor paper.

2. Use a wash of several bright watercolors starting with the lighter colors and working to the darker colors. This was accomplished by smudging the colors on with a large watercolor brush.

3. Place the bride stencil (LJ924) in the center of the card and tape off the edges. Then spritz the stencil image with water. Wipe out as much color as possible.

4. With the stencil still in place trace the design with a black 01 micron pen (30181). Remove the stencil and 'tangle' away with your favorite patterns. The major tangle on the dress is called 'Fiore' and the floral edged pattern at the bottom is called 'Buttercup'.

5. White highlights were added on much of the design with a white prisma color pencil and gouache.

6. As I said once it was finished I tied it with a May Arts ribbon and mounted it on metallic papers.

I want to thank Pam Hornschu for posting for me when my life gets too busy here at Dreamweaver, also for the support of the team and all of the followers who have sent cards or written notes and comments regarding the passing of my Father. Just know that he was ill for a long time and slowly fading, so he is now at rest and we are at peace. One of my mother's customers sent him a card every week and it was really something both of my parents looked forward to. For those of you who are card makers and know someone who is a shut in or in a nursing home I encourage you to do this, it can really bring joy. Thank you Madeleine!

Summertime, Sparklers, and S'more...Week Two

Hi, it's Pam here once again, giving Lynell a little break as she only got home yesterday from visiting her family. For those of you that know Lynell and her parents, you know that her dad has been doing poorly for a couple of years now, but particularly in recent months. He'd become very weak, and breathing had become harder, and caring for him had become more difficult for Lynell's mother, Shirley. As it progressed, they made the decision to place him in hospice, and as anyone knows who've dealt with caring for a loved one near the end, those hospice nurses are awesome...so kind, helpful, understanding, and rejuvenating for caregivers. Bill passed away on Sunday, July 7th, in the afternoon, which has become a bittersweet feeling for all involved. As Lynell says, he is now at rest, and they are now at peace...relieved that he is no longer suffering, and they can be comforted in knowing they were there for him as needed, and now can share their treasured memories as a family. Feel free to leave your thoughts below in the comment section for Lynell and her family, or email her at lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com. If you are feeling particularly creative, you can send cards in care of Dreamweaver Stencils, 1335 Cindee Lane, Colton, CA 92324.

Now on with the post! In keeping with our summertime theme for the month of July, I'm posting this sweet and dreamy pink sandcastle card that I created. I played with a new technique which will be coming out in a new technique sheet soon, so I can't go into too much details. I can tell you that Pearlescent Paste and Memories Mists were used, and no, it's not a sludge paste. The stencils used were the new Sandcastle, the Scallop, and the Scales designs. Using Bazzill's Bling paper line in pink added to the shimmer, along with some little adhesive pearls and a tiny die cut sentiment. Remember, the purpose of our monthly challenges is to encourage YOU to play along, learn new techniques, and discover the joy of stenciling. Just link your creations to the linkytool at the bottom of this post, or email to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com. Don't forget, we have more fun surprises for those of you that follow us on Pinterest, Facebook, and our weekly tutorials on Paper Craft Planet! Now, check out what our "B" team has created along with this month's Guest Designer, the amazing Wendy Price:

Hop Prize Winners, a Challenge Winner, and a New Challenge...Oh My!

Hi, Pam here for this week's post as Lynell is off for a family visit.

Are you excited? Are you doing the "Oooh, oooh, oooh, did I win?" dance? We had so much fun with last week's hop with Ranger's Stickles Dry Glitter, and we hope that you did as well. Just so you don't "wet your knickers", I'll let you know who are the two prize winners...Sandy (Cheesy) and Kren!!!!

Congratulations to both of you! Please email your address to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com, and your packages will be on their way! (Please note, the clear pail, ribbon bow, and lime green paper shred is not part of the package...just a cute marketing ploy by our social media and marketing semi-whiz...me! Well, if you ask nicely, we might just throw in the paper shred).

We also have a winner to announce from our monthly challenge for the month of June, but I'll add that at the end of this post...kind of drawing out the excitement for a second "Depends" moment. Lol.

The challenge for the month of July will be fun, simple, and predictable..."Summertime, Sparklers, and S'more"! We hope you'll play along with us, and link your creation to our linkytool at the end of the post for an opportunity to be a random winner of the stencil of your choice. If you want to start deciding on that choice, check out the line of stencils HERE. Meanwhile, here's our post for today, followed by the Dream Team list of players this week, and our special guest designer for the month of July...Wendy Price!

I had the fun of creating today's card for the first post of the new challenge, and I used a 4th of July memory from years ago to inspire me. When my boys were young, we were back in Minnesota for a month in the summer to visit my mother and grandmother. The neighbor next door asked if the boys and I would like to go watch the town fireworks out near the lake. Despite the mosquitoes, we had a fabulous time. My favorite part was how the fireworks were reflecting off of the water...so pretty, so I worked on a loose interpretation. For my card, I paste-embossed the Large Flourish stencil in red, white, and blue on a dark gray panel with sparkly speckles in it. Then I covered each section with the new Stampendous Micro Glitters and set it aside to dry. The bottom panel was created in the same way, but using a mirror cardstock. Once the paste was applied, I ran a "pointy tool" through the wet paste to create some movement. The completed card also features a sentiment banner, and fun Card Candi in patriotic colors with stars on them.

Before you head off to visit our "A" team, I'll let you know that our challenge winner for the month of June is YOGI, who created this gorgeous card:

Congrats, YOGI! And thanks so much for playing along with our Pinterest-inspired challenge in June. We love your creation. Let us know which stencil you would like us to send you! For the rest of you, be sure to leave our team some love as you check out their summer creations! Have a safe, happy, and yummy 4th of July!
