CAS/Last Chance to Lose some Weight!!!

New nesting pear die DL563
Elaine Benedict, a wonderful teacher who I first met in the Chicago area, but  who is now living and teaching in the eastern area of North Carolina sent me this beautiful pear thank you card. We have had this pear stencil (LL563) for several years, and it is definitely a classic design. She used the stencil and repeatedly stenciled her background with pigment ink and then paste-embossed the Thank you (LG691) using Glossy Black Embossing Paste (DGKP). The NEW die that matches the stencil (DL563) was used to cut it out both a black paper pear and also decorative Japanese washi paper. The washi pear is paper pieced and superimposed onto the black paper pear to create a shadow effect. If you would like to take a class from Elaine she now teaches at Scrapbooks by the Sea in Myrtle Beach NC.

The nice thing about the new pear die is that it nests a smaller pear inside this original size design, so you get two for the price of one. Now take a bit of time and see what the rest of the team has created today to inspire your CAS (also known as Clean and Simple) spirit. Leave a comment or two and you could be the winner of this new pear die...(just throwing this little comment challenge at you to see if you are reading) and would like your name to be randomly selected from the commenters for a chance to win this new die. The more team members you comment on the higher the chance of winning this pear die.

You have one more week to join in our CAS challenge. We will then randomly choose and post a winner on the first Thursday of the new month. The winner will choose any stencil you would like and we will snail mail it to you. Click HERE to find out how to link up with our tool below. If you don't have a blog and would like to join our challenge email me  (lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com) a picture of your creation and I will post it here for you.

CAS/Losing the Weight

This is the month for New Year's resolutions...and our Fearless Leader, Pam Hornschu has given us the challenge of CAS also known as Clean and Simple. She tacked that "Losing the Weight" on to see if you were paying attention. Click HERE to find out how to link up with the linky tool below. We will have a random winner at the end of the month and you can pick your favorite stencil from www.stencilwithstyle.com and we will send it to you via snail mail. We announce our winner the first Thursday of the month right here on my blog.

The card I did this week is very easy to do. I simply paste embossed the teacups stencil (LL493) using the Matte Black Embossing Paste (DMBP) and then used our new teacups die (DL493), cut it out on aqua paper and adhered it to the dried black pasted teacups. The Thank You stencil (LM222) was also paste-embossed with the same matte black paste. The ribbon is from May ARts Ribbon. Easy peasy...and so effective.

Hope you'll take time to visit the Dream Team's blogs and see how they are interpreting the challenge this month. Be sure to leave a comment or two...they don't get paid except in the love you leave. Also visit us on facebook, Pam starts the week with banner day for a chance to randomly win a stencil of your choice. Join in the fun!

WEEK #3 of CAS/LOSING THE WEIGHT

Hello Challengees...I am loving all of your postings for our challenge of CAS/Losing the Weight this month. If you haven't joined our challenges but would like to "give it a go" please click HERE to learn how to link your creations. If you don't have a blog but would like to join our challenges just email me a picture of your creations and I will post it here on my blog. lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com

This beautifully simple creation is with our new sailboat stencil (LG755). And again done by Elaine Benedict stenciler/teacher extraordinaire!!! I want to thank her for helping with design work when I am ultra busy.

The boat stencil was paste-embossed with glossy black embossing paste (DGKP) and once dry she used a silver gel pen to accent the waves. The dream stencil (LS1003) was paste embossed on glossy black card stock.

Hope you'll take the time to visit the Dream it UP team members CAS/Losing the Weight projects and leave them some love.

New Designs, A Fun Challenge, and a Friendly Post

Welcome to Dreamweaver's CHA Release Week! This week and next the Dream Teams will be posting sneak peeks of our newest designs...STENCILS AND DIES! The teams have had so much fun stretching their creativity to show you the most inspiring ways to use these new products. If you just can't stand to wait until your local stores get these in, you can order online from Stencil with Style!

In addition to featuring our new designs, we are also playing with the new challenge for January, "Losing the Weight: AKA Clean and Simple". This can be a bit tricky when you have all new toys to play with, but my good friend, former sales rep, and honorary Dream Team member, Elaine Benedict has demonstrated that it can be possible. Check out this card:

Elaine has used the new Zen Flower, an LX size stencil approximately 6" square, and has shown a perfect way to use a very large image on a normal-sized card...by using only a portion of the design! But the fun of a design this large is the extraordinary amount of uses for it...on walls, frames, floorcloths, tablecloths, runners, furniture, etc. What would YOU do with it?

Elaine has kept the technique simple, just ink stenciling the design with a Splendor pad, allowing the pressure of rouging the brush over the design to give the appearance of shadows and highlights, without taking the time to actually add them.

She quickly pasted the Thinking of You sentiment in Glossy Black, and covered it immediately with a gorgeous red Art Glitter, and added a smidge of sparkle to the flower as well. This would be a great card to make in multiples as gifts or just to have on hand for those Oh-My-Gosh moments!

Now's your opportunity to view the team's creations with the new designs! Leave them some love along the way...oh, and me, too, please!

Don't  forget to link your own CAS creations for this month's challenge for an opportunity to win the stencil of your choice...it could even be a new design like the Zen Flower above! Unsure how to link? Click HERE for the info.

Lose Some Weight: AKA/CAS

Molten Magic Zen Butterfly (new design) CAS challenge
The head of our design team, Pam Hornschu, comes up with the catchiest themes. With all the New Year's resolutions happening this week, she thought Lose Some Weight would make us perk up and take notice. Yes, CAS (clean and simple) is truly one of my favorite challenges. And sometimes just dropping that extra bow or button embellishment can be like losing pounds and inches. The zen butterfly is a new design (LL3037) and will be available soon. I paste-embossed it with Metallic Gold Embossing Paste (DGP) on the dark green and Pearlescent Embossing Paste (DPP) on the light green paper. While it was still wet I sprinkled them with Gold Dust, Ivy Garden and Forestry Metallic F/X powders. I then tapped off the excess powder and immediately heated them with a very hot heat gun. When cool and dry I cleaned off the background with a Swiffer dry dust cloth.

Our theme for the month of December was "Holidays in a Hurry" and I had two of our dedicated followers who don't have blogs send me their gorgeous cards for me to post. So here they are and then I will announce our two random winners below. (An extra special month deserves two winnings I think....especially when you consider what a busy month it is.)

This first card was sent by Tiffany S.

I love the way her cut at the bottom follows the hearts from the LJ921 stencil. The stencil has only two hearts and she flipped the stencil to get the third heart and the branch to be symmetrical. She used distress inks and not only stenciled the images but also edged the cream cardstock as well. A gold gel pen was used on the top of the ornament toppers and strings for an additional spark. I can definitely see myself doing something like this to make cardmaking go more quickly...thank you for the card Tiffany.
The second card was done by Rose S. from Nova Scotia.

This elegant card could definitely help streamline your Christmas cardmaking. It was accomplished with dies and a simply elegant stamped word "Peace".

Our two winners ARE......

Jessie L and NanaConnie: Here are their creations:

Jessie and NanaConnie please email me your snail mail address (lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com) and choose any Dreamweaver Stencil for your winnings.

Now be sure to see what the Dream team has been up to this week (follow the links of their names on the sidebar) and how they are interpreting ....Weight Loss the CAS method!
