Thursday's Dream Schemes/April Inspirations Challenge Week #2

Another photo inspiration from our Napa Valley trip last week. This week's April inspiration is a Wisteria vine at the gate of one of the vineyards up in the Howell Mt. Road area. This has to be one of my favorite flowers. Always reminds me that Spring is here at last.

This month we are doing a challenge of April Inspirations, your picture or inspiration can be anything that inspires you. Last week our guest designer Janelle mentioned that she is always best inspired by her art materials. Many of us will agree with that, or...it could be a photo you've taken, something from Pinterest, another person or friend's artwork or card creations. ANYTHING!!! Please join us this month. Something new we have going on is a new linking tool powered by inlinkz.com. Some of you are very familiar with working with it...but if you are having a hard time we will have our fearless leader, Pam Hornschu provide a link to an explanation of how to make it work like we did with our last tool.

Now...just a minute to let you know who our random winner is for the comments on last week's blog as to which embossing paste was the substrate for the Dreamweaver Crackle Embossing Paste (CEP) that was on my card last week. YES...it was the Dreamweaver Matte Black Paste (DMBP). You can actually use any of the acrylic pastes that we manufacture, but my favorite is the matte black. Reasoning...? I like the black to show through the cracks no matter how subtle, it just gives the image a bit more punch. I would love to show a card with the gold sometime.  OK...our winner is....snazzyjj!!! email me your snail mail addy and I will send you your prize! lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com

Wisteria stencil (LG725) card design by Georgia Sommers
The wisteria stencil (LG725) card this week is done by former design team member Georgia Sommers. I have to admit that one of the perks of owning Dreamweaver Stencils is coming in contact with so many talented people sending their creations my way over the years. Again crackle paste was used...can you tell which paste she used as a base for the Dreamweaver Crackle Paste? Yep...again it was the Matte Black Paste. One advantage to the matte pastes is that it has more of a "tooth" or porous surface. Therefore the crackle paste does better "sticking" to this type of paste-embossed surface. When you are using the crackle on a flexible surface like paper it really helps to have one of the other pastes as the base. Acrylic is known for being quite flexible, so this helps the crackle attach and less likely for it to come off the card if the card bends.

Please take the time to visit the rest of the design team and leave a comment to show your appreciation for the time they take to write about Dreamweaver products. And...wonderful designer Janelle Stollfus is our guest this month, be sure to see what she is up to...if I see your name on her comments this week and cross reference it with a comment you left on this post you could be the random winner of a stencil.

The wisteria card is just so beautiful, and I love the way the image has been stencilled onto complimentary patterned paper. A good idea to try!

Georgia did an amazing job on this card. Using the Wisteria background paper with that stencil really brings it all together. Absolutely stunning.

Wow, Georgia's card is amazing. Black matte paste under crackle never thought of that. I've got to go try that now. Thanks for picking my name as one of last week's winners!! Off to use my Dreamweaver Stencils now.
